| Timeline & Steps to Becoming a Franchisee |
It takes a special prospect to be awarded a V's Barbershop. That's because we consider franchise owners our partners in V's ongoing success. Ready to get going? Here's how the franchise award process would work from this day forward.
(Please note that many of these steps are performed concurrently with others.)
APPLICATION PROCESS
- You start the process today by completing the franchise application and transmitting it over our secure server, or by mailing or faxing it.
- A V's representative responds and informs you whether or not your application has been approved for consideration in the franchise awarding process.
- The Uniform Franchising Offering Circular (UFOC) is sent to you.
- V's receives your signed acknowledgement of receipt form (Item 23 of the UFOC).
- If you want to proceed after reading the UFOC, we will request additional information from you and process credit and background checks.
- You prepare and submit financials and any other information that V's deems appropriate for final approval.
- You are informed that you have been accepted as a franchisee and arrangements are made to execute a Franchise Agreement.
- The Franchise Agreement is signed and you receive your Owner's Manuals. This comprehensive set of manuals, along with the assistance of V's corporate staff, will guide you through the V's Barbershop development and operating process.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE: 2 Months
You've been awarded a V's Barbershop and are now an official franchisee. Congratulations! From here, we begin to develop your shop and train you how to operate and market it correctly.
Finding the Right Location.
With the assistance of a real estate broker, you will find a location for your V's Barbershop and will negotiate a Letter of Intent with the owner of the retail site. You will submit the site to V's for approval. The Owner's Manual will help you in narrowing down the best type of retail centers in which to locate your V's Barbershop and provide helpful tips in securing the right location. Of course, V's corporate staff are always available should you have any location questions.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 1-2 Months
Lease Negotiation.
With the assistance of a real estate attorney, you will negotiate a lease. Your real estate broker can also assist you in this process and the V's Owner's Manual will provide suggestions on how to approach typical retail lease issues and what you may want to include in your lease.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 1-2 Months
Lease Review.
Prior to signing your lease, V's real estate attorney will review the document and suggest any last minute revisions. If everything is in order and V's approves the lease, you will sign your lease and be well on your way to opening your V's Barbershop. You are now eligible to enroll in V's training courses which you will want to attend approximately one month before opening.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 2-3 Weeks
Architects & Contractors.
The Owner's Manual will provide you with the name and contact information for V's approved architect who is fully versed in designing a V's Barbershop. The architect will work with you in designing the space and, in most cases, will procure the permits needed for construction and occupancy. You will have the option of using V's approved contractor or you can use a local contractor, provided that they are approved by V's. The contractor will build out your retail space in accordance with the approved plans and will deliver to you a brand new V's Barbershop. You will also start working with V's approved sign contractor to ensure that all signage is installed prior to opening.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 2-4 Months
Outfitting Your V's Barbershop.
Your Owner's Manual will give you detailed instructions on what you need to buy and from whom. Don't worry, most of the equipment and initial supplies that you need to open and operate your V's Barbershop are purchased from V's or from approved vendors that understand exactly what is needed. For those items that you will purchase on your own, the Owner's Manual will list the items needed and suggest where they can be purchased.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 4 - 6 Weeks
Recruiting Employees.
It has been V's experience that there are many professional barbers who value working in a first-class barbershop that promotes quality workmanship and attracts affluent patrons. The Owner's Manual will give suggestions on how to attract barber talent and how to market these job opportunities. Additionally, V's will make available its Director of Barbering, Mario Herrera, to assist you in finding the best talent. Mr. Herrera was the Director of the Arizona Board of Barbers and was with the Board for 26 years. He is an expert at finding professional barbers. In short, you will have a pro's pro in helping you find the barbers you need.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 1 Month
V's Training Courses.
Approximately one month before you open your V's Barbershop, you will attend one week of intensive training on how to operate a great barbershop. V's will give you and your manager all it has in teaching you how to run a barbershop the V's way. All instructors are full-time V's corporate employees and will teach best practices in operating your V's Barbershop. You will also spend time in an operating V's Barbershop to better learn the ins and outs of running your own store. At the conclusion of training, you will fully understand how to operate your V's Barbershop and how to exceed the expectations of your V's Barbershop customers.

Creating a Grand Opening Plan.
With the assistance of V's corporate staff, you will create a marketing plan designed to inform individuals in your area that a great new barbershop is about to open. This will be important to the early success of your V's Barbershop.

Getting Ready.
You're almost there. Your store is close to completion and your equipment and supplies are being delivered. POS and credit card personnel will install equipment and train you on their use. Near opening day, a V's representative will arrive and help with any last minute details.
ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETION: 2-3 Weeks
Grand Opening.
The big day is finally here! Congratulations, you are the owner of brand new, classy, upscale barbershop. A V's representative will be with you on opening day and together you will address any issues that arise.
